i've read the "network attached storage compabile with xbmc" thread and unfortuantely the is/is-not working aspect of buffalo technology's linkstation isn't stated very clearly. so here it goes.

anyone using buffalo's linkstation nas (i'm considering either 250 gb or 300 gb version) with xbmc successfully?

for me i've been considering between maxtor's shared storage drive and linkstation and i probably can't go wrong with either of the unit, but i really do like linkstation because i hear it is quieter and contains the power supply. i do see that maxtor's unit has been known to work with xbmc, so at leas i have a plan b.

so if someone can share their experience with using linkstation with xbmc, streaming music and videos, i would appreciate it very much.

thanks in advance.

yes i'am.

it works great, if you hack it it's basically a linux system runing a ppc 200mhz with 64mb of memory. some devices (the 1gbit ones) are a little bit diffrerents.

mine runs all day, starts by itself at 8am, shutdows at 1 am and i have all my video, music and photos on it.

i've also installed a bittorrent and the kai server among other things.

all this and it only takes 17wats.

it's a pretty cool device.

it works great, if you hack it it's basically a linux system runing a ppc 200mhz with 64mb of memory.if you hacked it then try using the latest samba server (http://www.samba.org) version on it, maybe that will sort out the double-byte issue(?)
