i would really like to use xbmc, but if possible i would like to avoid installing a modchip, since it's expensive and voids my warranty. would it be possible to use a method like the one used in xbox-linux to start the xbmc? then you only need to rent a game for a day.

keep on the good job!

it's possible to use xbmc without modchip (by using soft modding).

also, the functionality you get out of xbmc is worth more than the price of an xbox and the modchip combined.

another possibility is flashing the onboard tsop, works on v1.0-1.5 xboxes. v1.0-1.1 can work excactly like having a modchip except it's free! with v1.2-1.5 xbox live doesn't work. if you have v1.6-1.6b you're out of luck.
this voids the warranty of course

since xbmc is no different from any other xbox-app
any softmod will work. i'd recommend ude if possible..
