im a newb at xbmc
i used flasfxp to ftp the files contained in xbmc_src-v1.1.0 to my xbox e/apps/xbmc folder, but now i dont know where to go from here. do i have to rename or move any files or do i have to edit the evox.ini file in my c folder? i am using evolutionx as a dashboard and just want xbmc to load from my apps folder. i have read sooo many tutorials etc but i must be thick headed cause i still don't get it.

help!

thanks

if you didnt have xbmc in your aps folder before youll prob have to add a link in the evox.ini file. using flashfxp drag and drop the evox.ini file to a folder on your comp then go to that folder right click on the .ini file and open with notepad. find were the apps are entered into your apps folder and setup a link for xbox media center in the same way.

if you already had the old version installed into the evox menu then it may just still be trying to go to the old folder. for instance when i downloaded the latest version for a friend the other day it installed the new xbmc to a diff path and the link on his dash was still pointing to the old version so we had to go into his ini file and change the path to the new xbmc folder.

i hope i havent confused you further. also if you really like the new xbmc then you can set it as your main dashboard like i run. heres a link that is pretty detailed in how to do it.

xbmc as dashboard (http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de/wakka.php?wakka=xbmcasdash&v=1ee5)

good luck and i hope you enjoy your new rockin toy :kickass:

hi xcaliber
thanks for the detailed reply. i did manage to get it to load i apps. i fooled around with the evox.ini file and found it was a little messed up from something i did when i installed evolutionx. where it is supposed to detect new apps or games from a default file, i had it set to f instead of e where the folders are.

thanks again

now next step, networking

i need help getting xbmc to connect to my network. i have a network connection (local area connection) for internet with tcp/ip options set for optain an ip address automatically. i can connect to the net but in order to connect my xbox i have to change these settings to 192.168.100.1 and 255.255.255.0.
i have xbmc ftp'd to my xbox apps folder but when i go to xlink kai in my programs i get an error the service is not connected, would you like reconnecting it with xbox media center?

thanks
