hello i have been using xbmc for a while using smb without any problems. i was doing this via a wired ethernet connection to my main pc running xp pro and using normal shares.

i recently built a new server to be my media station. it's running win2k3. i setup an smb share to this machine and i can access the directory without a problem and even play some smaller video files. but when i try to play larger files it either sits there after selecting the file and returns to the menu or the system locks up.

i've even tried to go back so the normal xp machines shares which now exhibit the same problem. i've upgraded and reverted back to my original (known working) version of xbmc and still no luck.

i've found tutorials on setting up the win2k3 user rights etc...but nothing has worked. i've also tried deleting the 0face008 folders. still no luck.

here's an excerpt of the error from my log file:

03-08-2005 23:24:24 error cmplayer::openfile() smb://192.168.0.10/video/bowling.avi failed
03-08-2005 23:26:04 error recv failed: 10103

any help would be greatly appreciated as i have spent hours trying to resolve this issue. after doing a lot of searching i did see another person with the same issue of not being able to play larger files over smb but didn't see a resolution. i have seen some info regarding to increasing cache sizes but no information was provided on how to do it.
