i would love all passworded shares to be opened by pass in xml or by master lock. this would alow me to let users lock there own folders but i would remain the master :). also it means that all my locked folders in filemanager and all around the place can be opened with one pass thats easy to change. if this was put in i could make each user have a passworded folder they could chage themselves but master would have admin rights :)
please let me know what you think if not please any developer let me know cvs files to look at and i will look at putting it in for me (and submit patch) cheers

to be honest, a better system is to extend profiles and have a separate user based system completely. the current system is a bit of a mess, and with so many different ways to access media whether they're on a locked share or not, it's too messy to deal with.
the idea is to have a users/ folder off the xbmc root, with a different subfolder per user. by default there'll be an admin user.
all settings will be stored in the users folder, including shares etc. there will then be a user.xml file as well, giving an indication of what rights the user has (eg can enter settings etc.)
this is basically an extension of the profiles system, but instead of just including settings, includes shares as well. we could even put a separate database in each folder, though that may be taking it a bit far.
anyway, just another perspective. i don't have time to code it :p

i know this is best but i thought it could be a is it xml pass or master pass then open added to share access. this for now would alow me alot more control for share locking. from your experience would this be easy enough to put in or would there be compilcations and if so wether you can do it or pretty please give me a direction to what files control locked folder access.
i know its not perfect but as i say i thought it maybe relatively easy to add and would be quite funtional. not as good as a perfect solution but i understand what you would like looks like a complete rewrite and only for the elite dev like yourself.
