View Full Version : Switching OGM audio and subtitle tracks?
hello,
i know this is a given, however wasn't added to the 'features we want to implement' thread, but could support for subtitles in ogm containers be supported? i only have subs in ogm files and those ogms are plentifull (hundreds) which really makes xbmc lack for me.
thankyou

i second moriens' motion for subtitles for ogm. please? :d
just wondering if the devs had any plans on implementing sub/audio switching for matroska files plus subs in ogm?
didn't see it on the "features we want to implement" thread however i'm thinking it's probably on a todo list somehwere since it's supported in mplayer and matroska files play so well now in xbmc ;) plus audio switching is already present for ogm (congrats on that btw works much better than in xbmp).
it would be good to select subtitle streams in ogm, mkv etc. say forced subtitles, and full subtitles.
will this happen - i think this is an excelent feature.

i am looking forward to trying this.
[18:57] <deltop> ogm sub support has made it to the list of features planned for v1.0 in bugs.txt
hey!
i have an ogg file with 3 audio streams and 2 sets of subtitles. *the audio streams switch fine, but i can't find a way to select the subtitle set, it just seems to only play the one. *is subtitle set selection implemented yet? *if so how do i select which one to use?
thanks
i add my request for this feature to be enabled.
select subtitle streams in ogm files
also
select audio streams in ogm files
not yet. it will just play the first subtitle found in the ogm file.
selectable subs for ogm and mkv hasn't been implemented yet.
thanks for the reply :) *i suppose i'll just have to wait.
it's strange as, although the overall compatability has been increased, i find that some files play worse than in older version of xbmc and even xbmp. *the subtitle selection in xbmp, however, is a law unto itself as is the audio stream selection.
i'm now wondering why i was so complacent about installing the latest builds for so long. *unfortunatly there is one set of avis that play fine on pc, but corrupted in xbmp yet didn't in an old build of xbmc, however now behave the same in the latest build of xbmc. *still i'm half way through replacing them with ogm versions so it will be of little relevance soon.
i don't know why i thirst after ogm files with dual audio so much, i almost exclusivly watch anime on my xbox and find most american voiceovers to be butchery, and wonder why so many people are too lazy to read a more literal translation, favouring a spoken translation more geared towards fitting lip movements rather than accuracy.
ahem...tangents aside, i look forward to the next release.

not long thou, cause sub switching for ogm is in cvs since two days ago :).
currently the gui for pal is completely fucked in cvs, so you might have to wait some time thou.

how can i change it to english in xbmc?
you can't, as switching audio(/subtitle) streams has not been implemeneted/coded into xbmc yet. merging this into existing feature request.

i can switch audio streams i ogm files. i'm using the 4-19 proper build. ive been watching inuyasha in jap (it has dual audio jap and english) but i havent tried switching subtitle streams yet. i think in mkv files its not yet implemented tho i may be wrong :d
i love ogm files, since they can have more than one audio stream, or more than one subtitle set, the problem is finding a media player that supports these! my pc can (barely) do it, but i'd rather be watching my vids on xbmc, any chance of support for selecting which audio and/or subtitle feeds you want to use in xbmc any time soon? even if this is down to codecs, we still need an interface added to change them, right? :)
erm this is already possible. you've been able to change audio track for quite a while now and support for multiple sub tracks was added a few weeks ago too.
just use the osd to switch between them.
good news!
xbmc has been able to do this for a looooong time. access the osd with the y button on ur control pad and you can change the audio stream and sub stream.
also almost all directshow based windows apps can do it with the neccesary installations. follow the media setup guide here. (http://www.inmatrix.com/articles/mediasetup.shtml)
