i think it would be really cool to add the xbox media center the capability to interact with an emule client on a connected pc in order automatically download our favourite (non-copyrighted) divx movies and then uploading them to our xbox hard disk while we're laying on the sofa in the comfort of our living-room, something like this <span style='font-size:6pt;line-height:100%'>(click here)</span> (http://www.moviebeam.com/about/index.jsp) i mean.. here it's what would be needed in my opinion:
mediacenter:
virtual keyboard (open choice):
- a simplified emule interface accessible through the mediacenter where you can look for your favourite movie by entering a search keyword via a little onscreen virtual keyboard using your xbox controller
menu (limited choice):
- a list of latest divx releases updated from a famous edonkey website and the users can choose their favorite one by easily going through the list using the directional keypad on their controller
pc:
- a server program able to listen to the search or file requests from the xbox console, and send them to the emule client which automatically chooses the file with more sources, asks the user (sending a feedback message back to the xbox) if he confirms to download that file (showing name and filesize) and, if reply is positive, starts the download and when completed, uploads or streams the movie file directly to the xbox hard disk (it could also be possible to implement all these features in a modified emule version, its code is opensource)
xbox:
- replacing the hard disk with almost a 40gb one would be useful too i think
ps: yep, you still would need about six hours or more with a low broadband dsl connection in order to download your movie, but *you could choose the movie you would like to view on the morning and then watch it with your friends on the evening, all by using your xbox!
