ok.. hi, i'm new to the forums, but been using xbmc for quite a while.. while i have had no problems with it yet.. up until this point

my shares on my computer are not being accessed using a username/password

yet when i installed the release from may 15, 2005, i tried to access my movies and it is asking me for a username/password for the share.. this only happens when i try accessing my e(on my computer) drive to be more specific

i have not had this problem before with the older versions.. so i decided to downgrade.. and now i still have the same problem... :(

is there someone that can tell me if im doing anything wrong? everything stayed the same.. deleted the "00face..." folder like i was told.. i just wanna see my moviess!!! :)

btw.. great work with this program!

:edit:

ok.. i just found out that if i share the entire drive and try to access the folder using that share.. it will ask me for a username/password

but when i share a folder on that drive, im able to access it no problem..

if anyone know the solution.. please reply.. thanks

sounds like the problem is because you are trying to access the administrator share e$ - if you create a new share on this drive with your currently logged in user privs on the computer, then that must be the username and password you have configured in the xboxmediacentre.xml file if it is letting you access those shares on your pc with no prompt or password request...

did you create bookmarks in your xboxmediacentre.xml file? look in there for clues.. what os are you running? xp/w2k/w2k3 server?

thnx for replying.. im using windows xp pro

i actually found out how to get it working. .dunno what was wrong.. but all i did was just unshare the drive.. and then all i had to do is reshare the drive.. and i was able to get the problem fix..

thnx though
