if this feature has been suggested, please add me to the list of requesters.

otherwise, i'd like to suggest a folder to store full settings for each video separately, including aspect ratio, audio out, volume, etc. when a video is loaded, it'll use the settings saved under the same video file name, in it's own settings folder. if one doesn't exist, it will use the default setting values. the usefulness of this is such that we can store individual aspect ratios that have been set for each movie without having to re-adjust each time we watch a different movie with different aspect ratio. same thing for volume. some movies are louder than others. if i don't have them all normalized, and i manually set their volumes, having this settings folder will allow each movie to remember it's volume setting when played next time.

thanks.

and ten folder for different pics ?
i think an audio normalize function is enough, and one press on the display button on the ir for the aspect ratio the is not too much.

now that the video database is in, anything like this should be included there. for instance, the default audio track/subtitle track could be defined once and remembered from that time on etc.

note that things such as video aspect ratio etc. can and should be included within the file itself if at all possible. mpeg1/2/4 all have flags available for this, and mplayer handles them correctly. note that this includes xvid movies (using any container) assuming you encode them with the flag set correctly. also, the .mkv container supports an aspect ratio flag as well.

as for normalization of audio, replaygain is the solution here. i'm not sure if mplayer supports this or not though - i'm sure others can comment here however.

i don't know if divx files store the aspect ratio, but even if it did, the problem is when i create the divx files from dvd, i crop the image and remove the black areas, which mess up the aspect ratio. i'd like to be able to adjust it in xbmc and then have that stored somewhere, whether it's in the new database, or some other place. but that's the reason why i am suggesting saving this setting. i've got 4:3 divx movies, and 16:9 movies with different dimensions due to cropping, and if i have to adjust the aspect ratio, i'd like it to be saved for that movie file, so that i don't have to keep adjusting the aspect ratio if i go from the 4:3 movie to the 16:9 movie.
