On screen keyboard replacement

what would be a great way to input text in xbmc would be to use the same technique used on mobile phones for sms / text messaging. ie 2 = abc, 3 = def, 4 = ghi, 5 = jkl ..etc depending on how many presses of the numbers.

so many less key presses on the remote than the keyboard.

i've no idea on how hard this would be to implement but it's a simple concept and would be extremley handy for searching the music db etc, it would also make using an im client ( which i know is a contensious issue ) much more reasonable.

what a dick! you would think i'd have tried it first, as always someone has already thought of my 'good' ideas.
