Startup password

i need a script that will ask for a password before media center opens.

you don't need a seperate script for that. that feature is already included in xbmc. just open up the xboxmediacenter.xml file and edit the mastercode with your own password ;)

i tried that but it doesnt work. am i missing something? i have the xbmc.xbe file and the .xml file on the c drive, and the bios set to run xbmc first. is this causing the password not to work right?

you also need to change mastermode. try setting it to 1 if your password is of numeric value or 2 for other value which can be typed in via the gamepad using v.keyboard.
