how about a seperate section on the front page or under myvideos called 'mydvds'

this would enable people to catalog their dvd collection - since, like me, i suspect that people have both videos on a hard drive as well as dvds which are not backed-up.

i know it is possible to put dummy text files with the name of the dvd on the drive and then use the imdb to look them up but i was hoping for a separate section which clearly indicates that these are dvd and are not playable unless you put the dvd in the drive.

not something i could see being implemented into xbmc itself. but it's certainly possibly through a python script.

you just need to write one yourself, or get someone else to ;)
