many users have complained that the anonymous cvs at sourceforge is unusable. most of the times it’s 24-72 hours behind in updates which can be pretty frustrating. to deliver the latest sources to you guys i have installed a cron job, this job will make a snapshot of the developers cvs every night.

update: sorry, but we had to remove the cron job because it got to big (50mb+) and sourceforge.net would not host them because of the bandwith it took. please use wincvs, tortoisecvs or other cvs-client to grab the cvs through the anonymous cvs access (link) instead, again we’re sorry.

maybe some of you have noticed that there is one important thing missing for xbmp and xbmc projects. you’re right, a decent logo, well a logo at all as our project has amazingly never had a real official logo! so we’ve decided to hold this open logo contest. we need an official logo to use on our website, an official skin and wherever a logo could be placed. now unlike most of our other contests this one will not have prize award to be won, except for the pride and honour of knowing that you made ‘the official xbmp/xbmc logos’.

again we’re sorry to see an xbox developer which forgot about the gpl license. this time its the ‘complex tools’ application which according to the author uses our port samba 3.01. off course we’re very happy to see that our libraries are used by other developers but remember that both our software and in this case samba too are licensed under gpl. this means that the ‘complex tools’ developer should provide the sources of his application if they are using any of our source code, we hope that they just forgot about it this and will adhere to the gpl license.

frodo

team xecuter has kindly offered to donate 10 final versions of the xecuter 3 modchip to the xboxmediacenter project for us to run this audio visualization development competition. the purpose of this competition is to develop new audio visualization plugins for xbmc and/or extend xbmc’s visualisation interface, hopefully it will also encourage more programmers to join the xboxmediacenter development. the competition starts of right away and will end two months from now. all good entries (winners or not) can be integrated in xbmc, however the top-10 entries (decided by the xboxmediacenter team) will each win one state-of-the-art x3, a top-of-the-line modchip by xecuter for the xbox, so new that you can’t even buy one yet, thanks team xecuter!

non-developers please make a paypal donation for the winners modchip shipping cost to help
