Great, I’d like to help, but the download is a Windows only .exe file. Fine, I try with wine(windows emulator for Linux), but it requires .NET. Anybody has any other option for non-Windows users??
Don’t take it as a rant, only trying to find an easy, open way to contribute back to a wonderful project.
See this for help on getting it running on linux.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn’t work for me. I’m on 8.10 64bits, maybe that’s the problem.
Trying to install under Win2k I get this message:
This setup requires the .NET Framework version 1.1.4322. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?
.NET 2.0 and Compact 3.5 are installed. Do I really have to install that old Version?
Not sure if 2.0 and 3.5 is backwards compatible, but try and install 1.1 and see if things work out for you, it doesn’t hurt I guess :)
Worked with .NET 1.1 plus its SP1.
So how do I upload a language file on trac?
Create a new ticket and attach the strings.xml?
Greetings!!!
I can became “spanish official translator”. I’m from Spain. I od use Macos.
I just uploaded a ticket with the fixed Spanish string.xml file. I think I can help with Spanish translations, and maybe create a brand new Spanish (Mexico) translation.
@Betsunin: Maybe you and Josue Camargo could work together on the translation.
@Josue Camargo: Please create a Mexican translation, also submit a langinfo.xml with the correct values for Mexico.
I was able to run the translator by downloading this version http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/xbmc/TranslatorFilesOnly.zip and running it with mono Translator.exe (make sure you have mono-winforms installed).
Should also run on OSX. But yeah a multi-platform app (java-based or something) would be appreciated.
Forgot to say that my previous comment was referring to linux :)
Ahh, nice that it works with mono aswell.
blittan contact me via mail…i will translate in the romanian language.
